Friends of Kings County Animal Services
Please consider volunteering to help Friends of Kings County Animal Services reach their goal of humanely reducing the population of feral cat colonies in Kings County!
Volunteers are the backbone of Friends of KCAS!
The TNR project runs exclusively by volunteers who set up and retrieve traps, release cats after they are vetted/neutered/spayed, and clean the equipment after use. This process takes 3 days: 2-3 hours to set up traps in the afternoon, 2 hours to pick up trapped cats the next morning and 2 hours the morning after to release the cats, sanitize the traps and clean the transport van.
As a volunteer, you will be responsible for:
-
Loading and unloading traps
-
Setting up traps
-
Retrieving trapped cats
-
Identifying cats in traps
-
Releasing cats back into their colony
-
Cleaning and sanitizing trap
Volunteers need to be at least 18 years old or 16 with parent or guardian participation! Volunteers may receive letters with hours of volunteer service if needed, endorsed and signed by assigned senior volunteers of Friends of Kings County Animal Services.
